For Nata Zheleznova we make samples: the first true garment in the final cloth, made to be fitted, photographed and shown.
The work
Printed dresses — a hooded dress, a dress with a draped panel, a blouse with a matching long skirt. Prints bring their own discipline. Placement has to be decided at pattern stage, repeats matched across seams, and the print kept square through construction so a motif does not drift off-centre. Drape brings another: a panel that falls beautifully on the stand can pull and twist on a moving body unless the grain is set exactly right.
