Ready-made curtains come in a handful of drops and rarely match a real window. Made to measure means the length is right, the pattern is centred, the fullness suits the track and the hem hangs straight.
What we make
Full-length and sill-length curtains in pencil pleat, pinch pleat, triple pleat, eyelet and wave headings. Roman blinds. Tie-backs, pelmets and valances. Door curtains. Cushion covers and loose covers to match. We work with your fabric or help you choose one.
Linings and interlinings
Standard cotton lining, blackout lining for bedrooms and nurseries, and thermal lining that makes a noticeable difference to a draughty sash window. Interlining — a soft layer between face fabric and lining — gives the heavy, expensive drape you see in hotels, and it also insulates. Worth it on a large window, overkill on a small one; we will say which yours is.
Altering curtains you already own
Moving house is the usual reason. We shorten or lengthen drops where there is hem to work with, narrow or widen widths, re-head curtains from one heading type to another, replace worn linings and add blackout to existing curtains. Considerably cheaper than starting again, and it keeps a fabric you already like.
Commercial work
We supply pubs, restaurants, hotels, care homes, offices and schools across Kent, including flame-retardant fabrics where the setting requires them. Repeat and multi-room orders are normal — see bulk and contract sewing for larger runs.
Measuring
If you are confident, measure the track or pole width and the drop from the top of the track to where you want the hem to finish, and bring those figures in. If you would rather not risk it, we can arrange to measure on site locally. Getting this wrong is expensive, so ask rather than guess.
Things people ask
How much fabric will I need?
It depends on the heading and the pattern repeat — a pencil pleat needs roughly two and a half times the track width, a wave heading rather less. Bring your measurements and we will work it out exactly before you buy anything.
Can you use fabric I have bought myself?
Yes, that is very common. Bring it in with your measurements. If there is not enough for the heading fullness we will tell you before cutting.
Can you add blackout to curtains I already have?
Usually yes, either as a replacement lining or as a detachable extra layer. It is one of the cheapest ways to make a bedroom usable in summer.
Do you make Roman blinds?
Yes, corded or chainless, with blackout or thermal lining if you want it.
Can you shorten curtains from a previous house?
Yes — shortening, lengthening where there is hem available, narrowing, re-heading and re-lining are all routine.
Do you do commercial and contract work?
Yes. Pubs, hotels, care homes, offices and schools across Kent, including flame-retardant fabrics.
