There are two entirely different ways to get custom t-shirts, and most suppliers only offer one of them. Knowing which you need saves a lot of money.
Decorating blank t-shirts
The usual route, and the cheaper one. We source blanks in the weight, colour and fit you want — standard cotton, heavyweight, organic, fitted, oversized, long sleeve — and embroider or arrange printing of your artwork. Suits events, staff tees, merchandise, clubs, hen and stag groups, and anyone who needs a decent shirt with a logo on it without a long lead time.
Cut and sewn from scratch
The route for brands. If you want a specific fit, a particular jersey, a neckline that is not available off the shelf, or your own labels and finishing, we pattern it and make it here. This is how a clothing label ends up with a t-shirt that feels like theirs rather than a printed blank everyone else is also selling. It costs more per unit and it is the difference between merchandise and a product.
Embroidery or print
Embroidery is done in-house and looks and lasts better, particularly on a chest logo. Print is better for large, detailed or photographic artwork and for very high volumes. Send your design and we will tell you honestly which suits it — fine lines and small text do not survive being stitched, and we would rather say so up front.
Fabric matters more than people expect
A cheap tee fails at the neck and twists in the wash because the jersey was cut off-grain. If you are making something to sell rather than give away, spend the extra on the cloth. We can show you the difference in a sample before you commit to a run.
Things buyers ask
Can you do small quantities of t-shirts?
Yes. Decorating blanks works from very low numbers. Cutting and sewing from scratch needs a bigger run to make sense, and we will tell you where that line falls for your design.
Is it cheaper to print or embroider?
Per unit it depends on the artwork and the quantity. Embroidery is done in-house, looks more expensive and lasts longer. Print handles large or photographic artwork better.
Can you make t-shirts to our own pattern and fit?
Yes. That is what a pattern studio is for. We can work from your spec, copy a fit you already like, or develop one with you.
Can you add our own labels?
Yes — neck labels, care labels and hem tabs. Supply them or we can advise on sourcing.
What fabric do you recommend?
It depends whether you are selling them or giving them away. Bring or request a sample before committing to a run; the difference between a cheap jersey and a good one is obvious in the hand.
How long does an order take?
Decorating blanks is quick. Cut-and-sewn runs depend on fabric sourcing. We give you a real date when we quote.
